A Fiesta Con o Sin Limes!: Cinco de Mayo Cocktails Recipes

So are we going to celebrate or ruminate?  There's a lime shortage going on; get over it already!  There are too many good times to be had, fiestas to attend and drinks to be made to mope over the lack of one party guest.  Why not just substitute?  After all, it's very 'un Cinco de Mayo' to curb your fun since one guest hasn't shown up the party.  You find ways around it, no?  Plus by the time the limes are missed you'll probably be too busy dancing on top the tables by then to notice anyway.

Hornitos®, a favorite Tequila brand of mine, is not crying over the missing lime.  Let's just think of it as festively celebrating while waiting for the lime's return.  Isn't this what the limes would want?  Hornitos® is revved up for Cinco de Mayo with a new cocktail and appetizer duo that doesn't skimp on the flavor or the spice one bit.  Below you'll find cocktail recipes for their Tequila Fiesta and their Tequila Lime Shrimp both utilizing two of their premium products, Hornitos® Plata Tequila and Hornitos® Lime Shot.

First up is Hornitos® Lime Shot!  Ever gather the gang around to test each other's 'shot reflexes' but couldn't remember if it's the lime before the shot or the shot before the lime?  Well Hornitos® Lime Shot strips away the confusion by combining the lime right into their premium Plata tequila.  Just chill it, salt up the rim of the glass and you're good to go!

Now while you've still got the bottle out, pour out a 1/4 cup (before its all gone) and whip up a quick and easy seafood appetizer perfect for a party.  Tequila Lime Shrimp with Hornitos® Lime Shot is a flavorful mix of savory and zesty and another way to say 'no limes, no worries'.

TEQUILA LIME SHRIMP RECIPE
Ingredients
·         1lb. large shrimp in shell (21 to 25 per pound), peeled and deveined
·         ¼ cup Hornitos® Lime Shot
·         2 tbsp. butter
·         ¼ cup green onions
·         ¾ cup crema or sour cream

Directions: In a mixing bowl, toss shrimp with green onions and ¾ teaspoon coarsely ground pepper. Heat butter in a 12-inch heavy skillet over medium-high heat until foam subsides, then sauté shrimp, turning, until pink and just cooked through, 3 to 5 minutes. Reduce heat and add Hornitos® Lime Shot, and increase heat to medium high. Tilt skillet over gas burner to ignite Tequila. Cook, shaking skillet gently once or twice, until flames subside. Remove from heat and stir in crema. Serve sprinkled with chili powder.
Sparking up a party is essential for Cinco de Mayo.  Whatever it turns into after the spark is on you.  Hornitos® has this recipe for a Tequila Fiesta that combines the tastes of tropic flavors from lime juice, pineapple and cilantro with their premium Plata tequila.
Tequila Fiesta
·         1 ½ parts Hornitos® Plata Tequila
·         ¾ part lime juice
·         ¾ part pineapple juice
·         ¼ part agave
·         Pinch of cilantro leaves

Preparation
Add all ingredients to a shaker with ice. Shake and strain into a coupe glass.

Limes?  Who needs them.  Hornitos® and their premium tequilas have got your Cinco de Mayo drinks choices on lockdown.  With whichever recipes you try always remember to sip, enjoy, munch, enjoy, guzzle, enjoy and ALWAYS enjoy responsibly.
