Spring's Sweet and Satisfying: Dönnhoff Estate Rieslings Tasting at USQ Wines

The weather is getting warmer so the drinks should be getting more festive.  Spring abundances in the bottom of a wineglass can open up an enjoyment for all that encompasses the fresh greenery, yellow sunshine and top shelf weather.

With top shelf on the brain and a yearning for things to fill my wineglass, I attended a riesling tasting at Union Square Wines on Saturday.  I have a special place in my heart for rieslings, the sweeter ones in particular.  I've found that a good riesling just makes me smile and hits my palette with the same sweetness that is cultivated into every bottle.  Showcased for the tasting were rieslings from the Dönnhoff Estate in Germany.  The top three that captured my heart not to mention my palette were these:

1- The Dönnhoff 2005 Norheimer Kirschheck Riesling Spätlese is a refreshingly sweet and smooth riesling with a crisp light finish.

2- The Dönnhoff 2011 Norheimer Kirschheck Riesling Spätlese similar to to refreshing flavor of the 2005 only with a touch more tartness but not less enjoyable.

3- The Dönnhoff 2009 Niederhauser Hermannshöhle Riesling Auslese 1.5 L is a riesling packed in a grand bottle with a grand flavor that is sweet and punchy as the deliciousness fills your mouth and satisfies your palette.

Stop by Union Square Wines in NYC and take home one of these bottles or any of the delicious Dönnhoff Estate rieslings this season and worry about the food later.
